Heart Kids New Zealand is the only charity that supports Kiwi kids and families affected by congenital heart disease (CHD), right through their life. Each week in New Zealand, 12 babies are born with a congenital heart defect. Some of these babies face the reality of life-saving open heart surgery within the first few days of life. Other previously healthy children can find themselves living with a heart condition as a result of a childhood illness such as Rheumatic Fever. Heart Kids New Zealand walks alongside each of these heart kids and their families and shares in their battles, providing them with the practical, emotional and psycho-social support they need to cope with the challenges.
