The inaugural issue was distributed on December 6th, 2003 and stayed in circulation till the end of 2016 when it shifted to digital on aljaras.com. · Al Jaras was founded by Lebanese author and journalist Nidal Al Ahmadieh (in the MENA region) after miraculously surviving an assassination attempt on July 24, 2002. Nidal Al Ahmadieh, who began her media career in 1982, became the first woman in the Arab region to own a magazine without a family predecessor passing it down her, as is common in the region. · Al Jaras changed the concept of Arabic Journalism and became a benchmark in Arabic media, launching the slogan 'a journalist must be the eye of an eagle, the heart of a lioness and the hand of a general'. Al Jaras is known as 'a free star atop Arabic media'.
