Yes, it was April 11th. But for some strange reason, May becomes National Pet Month. No pet parent is going to complain about another excuse to pamper their fur babies, especially when that excuse comes with a ton of sales from your favorite retailers. Both Chewy and Petco offer discounts or gift cards on purchases of certain amounts, while Amazon is in the midst of a dedicated Pet Day sale (which actually lasts two days).

Amazon is kicking off National Pet Month with a two-day sale dedicated to all things fur babies. You can think of it as Prime Day for pets, except that unlike Prime Day, you don’t need to be a Prime member to take advantage of the Amazon Pet Day discounts. Like the Chewy and Petco sales, Amazon has great deals on everyday supplies like food, treats, and trash.
But if you’re looking to splurge instead of stock up, it’s a great place to find discounts on items that may be excluded (or not even sold) at other retailers, like Merrick or Purina food or automatic litter boxes .
With Chewy’s current gift card promotion, spending $100 (on eligible items) is like spending just $70 when you unlock a free $30 gift card. While select excluded brand purchases won’t count toward your $100, tons of items are already on sale(opens in a new tab) from brands such as Voyager, Greenies and Kong are eligible. The $30 gift card can be applied to anything (like any Chewy gift card). Use code SHOP to take advantage of the promotion through May 8 and enjoy free one- to three-day shipping on orders over $49.
For every $100 purchase, Chewy will also donate one pound of food and supplies to Greater Good Charities.
Petco
Petco’s May promotion doesn’t require you to spend that much to get a reward. Dropping as little as $50 ensures a 15% discount on your total purchase, while spending $80 or more increases the discount to 20%. The promotion is applied directly to your cart whenever you shop with participating brands (click “see details” to see the few exclusions). Savings for each order is limited to $20.
